Pontefract RUFC Appoint Jayden Field as 1st XV Captain for 2026/27
Following the recent announcement of the appointment of Andy Fradgley as Head Coach, we are delighted to confirm that Jayden Field will captain the 1st XV for the 2026/27 season.
Jayden joined the club ahead of the 2025/26 campaign and quickly established himself as a key figure both on and off the field. His performances, commitment and leadership qualities made him an integral part of the squad and saw him recognised with the Coaches' Player of the Year award at last week's senior presentation evening.
Leadership has been a constant throughout Jayden's rugby journey. Beginning in rugby league, he captained both Stanley Rangers and Wakefield Hawks before progressing through the Scholarship and Academy systems at Castleford Tigers, where he continued to lead his teams and earned representative honours with England at youth level.
After moving to the University of York, Jayden continued his development in rugby union, becoming Vice-Captain of the Men's First Team and helping lead the side to their first promotion in almost a decade.
Now preparing for his second season at Moor Lane, Jayden takes on the role of 1st XV Captain as the club looks ahead to an exciting new chapter.
Jayden said:
"It is a privilege to be given the opportunity to captain Pontefract RUFC. We have a talented group of players and I am looking forward to leading them both on and off the field. I will bring high standards, energy and togetherness to the squad as we continue to build a positive culture and drive the club forward."
Director of Rugby James Grant added:
"Jayden's leadership qualities were evident from the moment he arrived at the club. He leads through his actions, sets high standards and has earned the respect of players and coaches alike. We believe he is the ideal person to lead the squad into the 2026/27 season."
