The Annual Presidents Dinner makes a welcome return on April 11th 2024. Our guest speakers this year will be Dean Richards and Lea Roberts.

Dean Richards is the most capped Rugby Union number 8 in the world! He played in 48 Internationals, including being in 3 world cup squads, also appearing for the Lions in 6 test matches in 1989 and 1993. He changed the way that the game was played from the back row, he ran lines that were considered strange at the time, and had an unprecedented ability to be just where the ball was due to arrive, and do exactly what his team required.
Add to this, tactical and leadership ability perhaps lacking in today's highly coached teams, and a willingness to be in where the action was the toughest, one can appreciate how much he is missed by the England team of today. Born and bred in Leicestershire he played for Leicester 314 times, captained them for 4 seasons, and scored more than 100 tries from the back row! He was part of the sides that won the league titles in 1988, and in 1995, as captain. Dean has also enjoyed success as a coach with Leicester Tigers, Harlequins and the Newcastle Falcons. His after dinner speech covers both his time on the pitch and also his coaching and management career.

Lea Roberts is a comedian, after dinner speaker and awards host from Halifax. Since winning the TV Series “Stand Up Britain” back in 2002 Lea has become one of the most sought-after and well-known faces on the after dinner circuit, working all over the UK and abroad. A former professional rugby league player, his comedy is based on traditional northern humour with a more modern approach.
