The longest yard!
Pontefract’s player-coach, Craig Fawcett, hosted our Senior Players’ Presentation Evening at the Clubhouse last weekend, celebrating a great season and the achievements of some of our outstanding players.
Craig also announced his retirement as a player (but not as coach). Stuart Sanderson, on behalf of the players and the Club awarded him, firstly, a fully-paid spa weekend away with his family during the summer and, secondly, a yard of ale. Whereupon, Craig earned himself an entry in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest effort to down a yard – you might still see him in the back room next season, finishing it off!
Anyway, congratulations to all the players who represented the Club in what was a remarkable season. In particular, a massive well done to Sam Millard who graciously received both Players’ Player of the Year as well as Top Try Scorer, as well to the following lads:
First XV Awards
Player of the Year: Brodie Matthews
Players’ Player of the Year: Sam Millard
The ‘Neil Bowmer Young Player of the Year’: Ethan Potts
Most improved player: Liam Kay
Top Try Scorer: Sam Millard
Second XV Awards
Player of the Year: Max Copley
Players’ Player of the Year: Cameron Burgess
Top try scorer: Andy Fenton
Young player of the Year: Linden Metcalfe
Most Improved Player: Charlie
For his wonderful photography and contribution to our media presence, Jonathan Buck was given a collection of PRUFC leisure wear (so he doesn’t have to wear the Featherstone Lions or Miami Dolphins stash at our games next season).
