Its hard to contemplate a Pontefract pack that does not contain Andy Lund at its core. But we’ll have to get used to it as Andy announced his playing retirement prior to the President’s Dinner last week, after more than a decade at the Club.
Head Coach, Craig Fawcett, remarks: ‘Andy has been ever-present throughout my tenure at the Club, both as a player and coach. He’s resilient, competitive, courageous and has never taken a step backwards’.
Pontefract’s Director of Rugby, James Grant, confirms that Andy will be missed both as a player and as a leader. ’His work-rate and fitness level are astonishing, from his dominant tackle-count to the number of his clear-outs that are nothing short of frightening.’
Club President Mike Parkinson agreed, we will miss him, but sent Andy the following message:
"Have a great summer to recover, enjoy the cricket season and we’ll see you for pre-season training?"
