Under 14’s to star in curtain-raiser

For those members who struggle to watch PRUFC Junior teams on Sundays, an opportunity arises to watch our Under 14’s boys in action against Wortley RUFC on Saturday 2 April at 12.30 in a ‘curtain-raiser’ before the First XV game against Bradford Salem.

Our under 14’s boys’ line-up includes four young athletes, under the tutelage of coach Matty Williams, who are on the pathway towards representative rugby: Jack Williams, Jake Agar, Ayenfe Kineosi-Oke (all at King’s School) and Corben Ashurst (a pupil at Freeston High School, Normanton).

These young men have been selected to be part in the Yorkshire Developing Player Programme (DPP). The DPP is a training and development structure that creates a pathway for promising players towards Yorkshire representative rugby, regional academies and onwards to the top end of the game in England.

PRUFC have had a proud history of bringing players through to represent Yorkshire at the colts level. This is now being extended to junior age groups. Jack, Jake, Ayenfe and Corben carry a weight of responsibility and expectation on their young shoulders as they represent the Club. We wish them all the very best in their rugby careers, and hope to see them in a First XV shirt in the not-to-distant future.

PRUFC members, first and second XV squad players are encouraged to introduce themselves to players from our Under 14s squad at the weekend and take them under their wing. Remember, in four years’ time these lads will be competing for your place!
