Castleford Away
Boasting a very strong squad, Pontefract U8’s short trip to local rivals Castleford proved to be yet another successful step in the development of this outstanding group of youngsters.
Exploding out of the blocks, it was Lucas Brain who stamped his authority on the game with a great solo try showing impressive acceleration. Freddie Williamson was quick to follow with some evasive running leading to a couple of scores. Oscar McDermott then showed his pace outstripping the defence to score, finishing the try with his signature ‘Mc-splash’ drive.
Seb Hinley had yet another impressive game strong in defence and classy attacking play shows just how solid a player he has become. Matthew Fradgley showed mental toughness playing whilst feeling under the weather. He made a number of eye-catching tags before having to leave the field. Holly Roberts then made a fantastic break before suppling a great pass to the support Tom Simmons. Tom stood out in defence making some outstanding try line tags but then was quick to transition into attack scoring a number of tries from distance. Charlie Simmons followed his brother lead in defence with some excellent tags and his passing was a great feature of his play.
