Pontefract U11 V Rotherham Phoenix U11

Pontefract started off a little scrappy in the game, one up rugby and panic off loading but quickly settled down and started to play to the structure that they train in. Rotherham Phoenix were big and physical and wasn't going to take the game lightly. That said, from the off, Pontefract showed dominance in both attack and defence. Once Pontefract settled down and used the forwards to make the yards up the pitch, pods driving and rucking setting up the backs for ball through hands to exploit the opposing teams wings. This proved strong and too much for Rotherham with Pontefract scoring 6 trys in the first half. Rotherham kept coming back, strong running and strong tackling, but this didn't phase the U11s who continued to use pods to get up the field and quick ball through hands to socre. Pontefract struggled in the scrums, losing all but 2 but this didn't change the lads motivation, they just turned this into solid defence and kept Rotherham in their own half. Rotherham did at one point catch Pontefract sleeping and with speed and agility, a Rotherham player ran from within his 22 up the wing to score their only try. Pontefract continued to dominate the attack, taking Rotherham back with every phase, winning the contact and game line and scoring another 5 trys.
