Match report Pontefract RUFC 2nds v Pockington RUFC 2nds.
Game played Saturday 28.09.19. at Moor Lane KO 3.0.pm. Pontefract 2nds achieved a second win of the new season against visitors Pocklington 2nds. The home side played out the early game with bags of enthusiasm, team spirit and the necessary experience. Billy Coleman scoring an early try from a go forward scrum. Shane Simpson kicking the goal. Pocklington came back with a determined reply but Pontes tackling freed up the ball. Broken play and excellent retention from Ben Jones enabled Dave Findlay to evade the tackles and crash over for the try. Shane Simpson converted. Pontefract tried to catch their breath, Pocklington spotted the loose pass and number 7 intercepted to score near the posts. 14-7. Both sides relished the forward battle but Pontefract then moved the ball wide to find bags of space enabling Liam Wiggins to race over for the try. half time score 19-7. Two excellent early tries immediately following the break. A second try from Liam Wiggins and a push over try from number 8 Matt Williams stretched the score line to 33-7. Pontefract rang the changes, the visitors played wide, found space and a half tackle coughed up an easy score. 33-12. A penalty set up Dyas to take the pass and crash over for the final home side try. Final score 38-12. The win was earned from an overall team effort. Credit to stand outs Dyas, Williams and Simpsons goal kicking. Pocklington competed throughout the game.
