Pontefract 2nd XV welcome Doncaster Phoenix 2nd XV to Moor Lane on Wednesday 19th April 2023. This match is the highly anticipated second leg semi-final of the South Yorkshire Cup.

In the first leg, played at Doncaster two weeks ago, Phoenix were victorious in a 29 – 10 win. This fixture will be played on an aggregate score, meaning Pontefract need to secure a victory of more than 19 points to advance to the final of the cup.

Pontefract are extremely confident of turning this contest around in their favour and the game is one not to be missed.

The Pontefract 2nd XV is a team full of exciting young talented players who like to play expansive rugby. With home advantage and on a larger pitch, they will look to score tries from anywhere on the field.

Long serving captain Scott Hawkins will be looking to lead the team from the front of the pack with the help of bulldozing powerhouse forwards Andy Fenton, Cameron Burgess and the returning James Griffin

Ponte’s young backs, Max Copley, Linden Metcalfe and Tom Greensmith will be looking to exploit the Phoenix defence alongside the experienced 9/10 combination of Harry Wollaston and Richard Hossack.

The game kicks off at 19.30 at Moor Lane with free entry. The bar will be open and all support is welcome.
