Match report Pontefract RUFC 2nds v Wath RUFC 2nds, game played Saturday 29.10.16. at Moor Lane. Kick Off 3.0pm. Pontefract 2nds made an excellent start to the home game against rivals Wath 2nds, spreading the ball wide and Richard Hossack going close to scoring. Wath initially looked vulnerable on the flanks but were stung into action. A poor kick from the home side 22 gifted the visitors an opportunity to set up an attacking platform and score their first try. Pontefract were still in it but inexplicably gave up possession far too easily, the wheels then came off for the home side and an experienced and well controlled and directed visitors side ran in the try's to pile up the points. Pontefract showed glimpses of their individual potential at times in the game but it was not sustained and were sucked in time and time again with the defence out wide unable to hold the concerted effort. Half time score 0-25. Final score 0-57. A lot of hard graft was put into the game by the Ponte lads but Wath were overwhelming at times. The pick for Pontefract 2nds in a tough hard game were lock Perry, hooker Rich Armstrong and the effervescent scrum half Danny Wheater. Ironically Pontefract 2nds have had the upper hand in the previous encounters with Wath 2nds
