Pontefract forwards control the game

Pontefracts preperations for Sundays game were hit by 2 late call offs and also by having two players involved in an accident en-route to the fixture - thankfully everybody was uninjured.
Pontefract responded magnificantly and were quickly into their sride with captain Renouf leading by example. Renouf put the visitors ahead by scoring the opening try that Copley converted. Hull then replied when their speedy winger went over for a converted try, but Pontefract soon regained the lead.
Tom Goldthorpe stormed over for a touchdown and number eight Knox then picked up the ball from the base of the scrum to crash over with Copley adding both conversions.Ionions then had their best spell of the game when they scored two quick converted tries to square matters at half time 21 - 21.
Pontefract started the second half well on top with the forwards making good groundfor half-backs Priestley and Copley to get the ball to Jowsey who crowned his best performance this season by scoring out wide. Further Pontefract pressure saw loan player John Simons cross the line for a try.
To their credit, Ionions battled back to score a well taken try but but Pontefract finished with a flourish with Sharp scoring and Knox getting his hat-trick late on to round off a magnificent team display.
