Pontefract entertained local rivals Sandal in game that showed glimpse's of well structured rugby that we certainly entertaining. Sandal had a number very strong runners with the ball and Pontefract's tenacity in the tackle it looked to be a close contests. But it wasn't long before Sandal broke the defence to crash over and with the conversion a seven point lead. Pontefracts defence was continually tested but Marshall Brown and Jamie Jex worked tirelessly but it was only a matter of time before Sandal crashed over once again. Sandal gradually started to exert themselves on the game even the strong running of Tom Webley and Ben Mason could not break Sandals defence. Pontefract continued tackle and compete for the ball at the break down but the bigger and more experienced Sandal just took control of the game. Positives from the game for Pontefract was the improved pack performance in the line out and the scrums. Notable performances came from Jex, Mason, Longstaff and some good work from Abbot and Smith but it was Marshall Brown who was Pontefract's outstanding player, his work rate and commitment proved to be invaluable in another tough games for Pontefract.
