Pontefract hosted local rivals Selby to Moor Lane on a day that was once again challenged by the strong winds but this wasn't to deter Pontefract from another solid performance. In the end it was another win for Pontefract 31-10 but Selby were not going to make it easy as they quickly built up a ten point lead using the strong wind for good field position. As time went on Pontefract began to gain more control of the game the defence on the edge of the ruck was resolute with Jamie Jex leading the defensive effort and with Jude Longstaff controlling the attack. It was the dominance of the scrum that was most telling, Louis Wan, Owen Downham and Keir Woodfield were outstanding continually putting the Selby scrummage under pressure, the solid scrum gave a great platform for the Pontefract back line to make penetrating attacks, wing Will Goodall was stopped just inches short but a final surge saw Jex crash over minutes before half time.
With the wind at their backs Pontefract started the second half bubbling with confidence with Jude ghosting through the Selby defence to score the first of his three tries. Selby picked up their game chasing down Pontefract's narrow lead but again the defence held firm, Marshall Brown, Kier Woodfield and Will Smith putting in a tremendous amount of work, to hold Selby out. Ben Mason was the next on the score sheet with a well taken try under the posts extending the lead to 24-10 and minutes later Longstaff finished off the scoring, Ethan Grant added three conversions to make up Pontefract's 31 points. Other notable performances came from Webley and Wilson, although Longstaff crossed the line three times it was Jamie Jex who was the star man with his defensive efforts.
